Marian

The greatness of Mary is by her
association with the Incarnate Word. By
contemplating the Incarnation of Jesus- the mystery of Christ
held a special devotion in St. Francis,
and he recognized that the Word received the real flesh of our humanity and its
vulnerability in the “womb” of Mary (Adm I).
Mary is the attentive, diligent mother of the Son of God.
But also, she is the faithful disciple of her own Son.
She really is the mother of God because she bore him first by faith in
her heart and afterwards, in her womb.
As disciple of Jesus Mary is our mirror to live out our discipleship in Christ as a SMIC. Our
Constitutions state that in the example of Mary, we are called, to live
steadfastly in attentive listening and readiness to do the will of God.
These are the characteristics of being a disciple confirmed by Jesus in the
Gospel: “That which is in good soil are those who hear the word in a faithful
and good heart, keep it and produce the fruit of perseverance.
( Lk. 8:15)
Mary
has exactly these qualities which characterize the follower of Jesus: she
listens to the word with faith, keeps it in her heart and puts it into practice.
